Join Us for Opening Day 2007
Please join me and my biking buddies next Tuesday, April 17, for "Opening Day" of the 2007 biking season. We will meet at the coffee shop next to Hill's Market (on Route 315 at the base of Worthington Hills) at 7am..........my law firm, Calfee, Halter & Griswold, has graciously offered to foot the bill for coffee and bagels for all intrepid riders who show up for our traditional Opening Day ride. We will begin our ride downtown via the Olentangy bike path at 7:30 sharp.....we will ride leisurely with due regard for our friends who are "shaking off the rust" from the winter.
For friends who cannot ride their bikes to meet us, put your bike in your car or truck and drive over to the meeting location........there is ample parking where you can safely leave your vehicles all day.
If you live along the bike path and do not wish to "backtrack" to meet us at the coffee shop, feel free to join us along the path........if you let me know where you will be, I'll give you my best guess as to the peleton's expected time of arrival at your location.
Let me know if anyone needs help with logistics (where to shower, how to get clothes downtown, where to put your bike, etc........us seasoned vets are happy to share our routines with the "rookies").
At the end of the day we will meet at 5pm at the McKinley statute on the west side of the State House......we will leave at 5:15 and head north on the bike path, ending at our traditional site, the Rusty Bucket next to Hill's Market, where we will celebrate and toast our "day outside the box".....(fyi, some of my biker friends refer to automobiles as "boxes", as in "I don't like riding in a box.") and, once again, Calfee will spring for the bar bill.
I sure hope you can join us next Tuesday......let's set a good example for our children and our community!!!
P.S. If you can't make theOpening Day ride, you will have 2 more chances.......we will have an organized group ride during "National Ride Your Bike to Work Week" later in the summer and we will have a group ride at the end of the biking season to mark the official "End" to the biking season.
Wow. Makes me wish I worked downtown. Have fun!

Thank you to Doug and CHG Law Firm for the sposorship of breakfast and a very, very happy hour (actually two hours) at the Rusty Bucket to celebrate the end of our work and bike-commuting day.
It was a perfect ride both ways: abundant sunshine, gentle breezes, birds singing, spring flowers blooming, 10 studly guys in spandex flexing their muscles, and me - the sole female rider in the group, enjoying the sights (while riding, of course). Let's do it again soon!
